CHCC History and Mission Statement

The Colorado Housing Counseling Coalition (CHCC) is a non-profit organization founded in 1980. It is a coalition of housing counselors and interested housing professionals who joined together in the interest of housing. Our mission is:

The coalition promotes affordable housing for low and moderate-income families through housing counseling and the sharing of knowledge, resources and counseling techniques among members.

Colorado Housing Counseling Coalition member agencies help people improve their housing conditions and meet the responsibilities of homeownership and tenancy. Among the many services the member agencies provide are: pre-purchase counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, housing consumer education, debt management, and reverse equity mortgage counseling.

The Colorado Housing Counseling Coalition has staffed the Foreclosure Prevention Hotline, held free seminars for potential homebuyers and distributed brochures promoting the availability of housing counseling all in an effort to continually educate the public about housing

CHCC Activities

The Colorado Housing Counseling Coalition provides educational speakers on topics ranging from grant writing and loan products, to housing agency problems and solutions. Members exchange information about conferences, programs, technology, etc. Often there are representatives from HUD, U.S.D.A., VA, Fannie Mae and other lending entities who provide updates and discuss any changes in their programs.

Our coalition produced a homebuyer video in both English and Spanish that was disbursed to libraries and the Board of Realtors throughout the state of Colorado.

Lenders, PMI components, and housing organizations have found our organization to be a great resource in identifying agencies that provide workshops and counseling in the areas of buying a home.
